You will have seen the news about our Member of Parliament, Jo Cox. Her young children are without their mother, and her loving husband is without his wife
We have to understand the meaning of free speech and democracy. We may disagree with someone, but they have the right to express their views.
When someone is elected to Parliament, we may not have voted for that person, yet they will represent us, even those who did not vote for them.
Whether our Members of Parliament are on the left, centre, or right, they are each of them public servants, that’s right, servants, serving us, the public .
At the heart of each of them is a belief that what they are doing is for our good.
Freedom of speech does not mean we may abuse others, or ridicule their beliefs, religious or political. There is an understanding that we respect each others beliefs.
