Our Prime Minister has certainly risen in my estimation. And I congratulate him for his courage. I am neither for or against Europe, but I am for protecting our national interest. When we were debating the Euro, I was for retaining Sterling.
While none of us can foresee the outcome of David Cameron’s decision to veto the treaty, the strength to resist the pressure of going with the majority took grit. It is that moment that should be admired. When I saw the French PM snub David Cameron, then go on to shake another PM’s hand, that in itself was a clear indication of how much strength it took to veto the treaty.
We need leaders who have the courage to go against the grain.
